1. Journey

One of the most beautiful games ever made. Without a single word you follow a journey of self-discovery, which you can share with other unknown players or alone. With a low budget, Journey enchants for its simplicity, for its virtual richness and for bringing an exciting narrative told between the lines.



2. Limbo

Limbo is one of the most challenging games on the list if you don't understand the mechanics straight away. Everything is geared towards solving puzzles that allow you to continue progress. As it is a platform game, you can expect a linear narrative, told in the details of the scenario.

3. Hotline Miami

Top-Down-style shooter, Hotline Miami puts players in the 90s, in super tight scenarios, in which they must punch, shoot and stab enemies to pass the level. With a soundtrack and mechanics reminiscent of the old arcades, Hotline Miami started a successful franchise, which brings the best of the genre into the hands of an independent studio.



4.Braid

Braid is a platform game that brings all the charm of the early colorful games of the genre. There's nothing very innovative about the narrative, but it allows players to have smooth gameplay, with great sound effects and lots of color. The old school graphics are a really cool homage to several classics, including the king of platformers himself, Super Mario World.

5. Spelunky

Spelunky is too difficult, and perhaps therein lies its appeal. The game is designed to make you fall off platforms or be touched by enemies, but at the same time the mechanics make it clear that it's always your fault. In Gone Home you go back to your family's house and find that everyone has disappeared. Mom, Dad, Sister, Pet. Your mission is to explore the mansion and find out what happened. A really deep game, aimed at those who like "point and click" games.

22. What Remains of Edith Finch

In What Remains of Edith Finch you explore what happened to the Finch family. Everything happens and is explained while exploring the mansion and family estate. The high point of the game is the way the story is told in each touch and interaction with the scenario performed by the player.

27. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night

This is one of the best side-scrolling role-playing games. It's reminiscent of Castlevania for its '90s theme and look, but it has its own unique charm and narrative. Still, expect to find classic demonic enemies, medieval settings and several references to other games of the genre.

28. Into The Breach

Game with turn system, which takes place on an 8x8 board. You face aliens who want to eliminate the human race. Reminds me a bit of Plants vs. Zombies in style, mainly because each unit is unique in its abilities.

29. Inside

Game very similar to Limbo! In it you also control a boy who needs to progress in the scenario, solving puzzles. The world has few colors and is practically silent, which gives that horror game feel.

30. Little Nightmares

A puzzle game in which the player controls Six, a girl who must escape from a boat full of enemies. You don't have weapons, so your only way to get out alive is to be smarter to hide and solve the puzzles.

Undertale is a choice RPG. You can kill, try to dialogue and even convert enemies into good allies. The mission is to leave the underworld and return to the Earth's surface, facing demons and puzzles in the dungeons.

Created by Uruguayan designer Gonzalo Frasca, September 12th is a major critique of the United States' fight against terrorism. Your mission is to blow up the terrorists without killing civilians. When it kills civilians, more terrorists are born in their place. Can you win the game?

43. Unravel

Everybody's Gone to the Rapture won several awards for storytelling. The mechanics are truncated, and the game is time consuming in terms of progression, but it's worth it to find out what happened to all the residents of this charming village in which the game takes place.

47. The Stanley Parable

The Stanley Parable is super complex. It's a game about the act of playing, full of paradoxes, contradictions. Dying and failing is part of the game, but as you explore and understand the narrative, you become even more passionate about the game and about being a gamer.

48. Among us

Among Us is a modern "detective and thief", in which you can be a crewman of a spaceship or the saboteur. The crew must make the ship take off. The saboteur must prevent this by killing all crew members. And, of course, without being discovered and thrown off the ship.

49. Granny

Granny became a fever between 2022 and 2022 as a good horror game. In this survival your enemy is an old zombie that wants to stop you from leaving her house.
