In Stardew Valley, fish are part of an item category that has its own mechanics and several different characteristics. Most of them can be obtained with the Fishing Rod item in bodies of water. As soon as a fish takes the bait, a simple and fun minigame starts and you need to follow its movements until a bar is filled. By doing so, the fishing is successful and the fish is obtained as an item to be sold or used as an ingredient in recipes. Check out the full list of Stardew Valley fish and how and where to find them below!

Covo trap fisheries
Some items can only be fished with the Covo trap. Unlike the Fishing Rod, you only need to use the Covo in a body of water equipped with a bait and come back later to collect the prey. Another difference is that the items below are not limited to certain seasons and can be found in any bodies of water.
While not technically fish, all of the items below can be used to make the Covo Set, recipes for any fish, in addition to the recipes shown below:

How to use the Fish Pond
The Fish Pond is a building that allows you to grow and breed your own fish. It can be purchased from Robin Carpenter for the price of 5000 gold and takes 3 days to build, taking up a space of 5x5 blocks.
The Fish Pond can be used to farm any fish in the game, with the exception of Legendaries. However, each pond can only contain one species of fish, so you will need more than one to farm more species.
Fish placed in the Fish Pond will automatically breed until the maximum capacity is reached. When this happens, the fish will require you to bring specific items, in a kind of "quest". Upon completion, the pond's capacity will be increased up to a maximum of 10 fish.
If you want to change the species of fish in a lake, it is necessary to select the option "empty lake", i.e. catching all the fish in the building will not allow you to enter new species.
