Playing on PC using the PS4 controller is very easy. There are 2 ways: either by Bluetooth or by USB, the latter way being with the program DS4Windows. Below we explain each method and everything you need to do to start playing right now with the DualShock 4 on your computer!
Method 1: Bluetooth
Steam has a natural connection to the DualShock 4, so just connect the PS4 controller to your PC to play any game from your Steam library. But how to do this? See below!
- Step 1: Press the DualShock 4 PS and Share buttons at the same time for 3 seconds and stop only when the joystick light bar flashes
- Step 2: On PC open Bluetooth settings and connect with Wireless Controller
- Step 3: If prompted for a password, enter 0000.
If your PC does not have a Bluetooth connection, you must buy a USB adapter that acts as a Bluetooth hotspot. There are some such products available for sale on the internet.
The most famous is CronusMAX. The problem is that it is not for sale in Reais, only in Dollars. It can be found on Amazon, but it is either too expensive or unavailable.
Other products, less famous, can cause problems and not work. Therefore, in this case, we recommend that you test Method 2 below.
Method 2: Using DS4Windows
This method is for non-Steam library games. It requires that you download the DS4Windows program and that you have a USB cable to connect the DualShock 4 to the PC. See below the steps to download and configure the program.
Step 1: Download and install the DS4Windows program
DS4Windows software is constantly being updated by its developers, so when accessing the site, make sure you have downloaded the most current version. After downloading, install the game in the folder you think is relevant and prepare to install the DS4 driver as well.
Once you open the program, the option to install it will appear. Automatically the download and installation will be done. If not, restart your PC or wait 10-15 minutes for the driver to appear properly installed.
Step 2: Connect and configure the controller
Now that the DS4Windows program and driver have been installed, we can connect the DualShock 4 to the computer. For this, use a USB cable. If everything goes right, your joystick should appear in the tab Controllers from the program. If there is a failure, keep the controller connected to the PC and restart the software.
Once everything is successful, the control is ready to be used on the computer. To check the configuration of the buttons, it's simple: go to the Profiles tab of the program. There you can test each command and define exactly how you want the buttons to be configured.
Keep in mind that not every PC game is compatible with the Xbox 360. And this is fundamental, since the DualShock 4 will just pretend to be a Microsoft console joystick.
