Mods are additional content generally created by the community to enhance games with new modes, tools, scenarios, etc. In Minecraft, mods are extremely popular as they fit like a glove into the game's style, as well as being very easy to install.
Check below the step by step on how to install Mods in Minecraft (PC version) in 2022!
1. Install the Mod Loader Forge
The first step to install mods in Minecraft is to install a Mod Loader, that is, a program that manages and runs the mods within the game. The most popular Mod Loader is by far the Forge, since most mods you find on the internet have this program as a requirement.
To download Forge, go to the program's official page to see the following screen:
The tab on the left side of the screen provides, from bottom to top, the oldest to the most recent versions of the program. Choose according to your Minecraft version and then click the "Installer" icon in the middle of the screen like in the image above.
On the next screen, wait a few seconds for the "SKIP" button to appear in the upper right corner of the screen and click on it:
The download will start automatically. It is possible that a message will appear warning you about the risks of the file, but don't worry, as this is a standard message for any Java file. After downloading, right-click right click>Open with>Java. A small installer will start and you just need to hit OK to finish the process:
If you don't have Java installed on your PC, you won't be able to run the Forge installer. To download it, go to the official Java website.
2. Downloading and installing mods in Minecraft
To find Minecraft mods, a simple Google search is enough as there are numerous websites dedicated to the subject. To make it easier, here's a list of the most famous:
- Planet minecraft
- minecraft mods
- Minecraft CurseForge
- Minecraftsix
- 9Minecraft
Follow the instructions on the sites you choose to download the mods you want. All articles are .jar, then they will all show a risk warning, but don't worry.
After downloading the mods, you must gather them in a folder called “mods” inside the Minecraft directory. If it doesn't exist, just create it with this exact name:
Attention: Always make sure on the mod download page that it is compatible with your version of Minecraft and the downloaded version of Forge.
3. Running the mods
To run the downloaded mods, open the Minecraft Launcher and from the "Facilities" select "New installation", as in the image above. On the next screen, choose any name and, in the "Version" tab, choose the version of the program you downloaded and save the settings:
Finally, return to the Installations menu and, in the downloaded version field, click on "Play offline" and that's it! Your Minecraft will run with the mods running:
