Even though it's a relatively light game, Minecraft can demand a little more from more modest PCs. If you're having performance issues in your game, check out several tips below on how to make your Minecraft faster!
Lower your Windows resolution
Right click on the desktop and select "Display Settings". Then find the "Screen Resolution" section and make it smaller. We suggest you start by putting it at 1280x720 and depending on the result, adjust it to get the best performance in Minecraft.
Optimize game affinity with processors
With Minecraft open, minimize it and access the Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del). In the "Details" tab, find the task "javaw.exe", right-click and select the "Set affinity" option.
The next screen should have all CPUs checked (since you configured it that way in the step above). However, whenever you start the game, uncheck CPU 0. Several tests have already shown that it is responsible for several processes that are open in the background and using it to run Minecraft causes some FPS instability in the game. Then she select "OK" to save and go back to Task Manager.
Increase CPU Priority for Minecraft
Still in the Task Manager, in the same "Details" tab, click again on the Minecraft executable and select "Set priority". Then increase to "High" or "Above Normal". Like the procedure above, this must also be done every time you run the game.
Increase system performance
In the Start Menu search bar, type "View advanced system settings" and select the menu of the same name. In the next window, on the "Advanced" tab, click on "Settings" in the "Performance" section:
In the next window, check the option "Adjust for better performance" and then select "OK" to save and close.
Optimize Windows Startup
In the Start Menu search bar, type "msconfig" and hit Enter. In the new window, select the "Startup" tab, then "Advanced Options":
In the next window, on the "Number of processors" tab, select the maximum number that appears and check the "Maximum memory" box. Then click "OK":
Back in the previous window, select the "Services" tab and check the "Hide all Microsoft services". Right away, uncheck all the programs that you don't use, there will certainly be several. Then select "OK":
Maximize power plan performance
In the Start Menu search bar, type "Choose a power plan" and in the next window select "Maximum Performance".
It is possible that this performance option is not available to you. In this case, type "cmd" in the Start Menu search bar and right-click on "Command Prompt". Then select "Run as administrator":
In the Command Prompt, copy and paste the following code:
powercfg -duplicatescheme e9a42b02-d5df-448d-aa00-03f14749eb61
If you did it right, you will get the following message: "Power Scheme GUID: ee64ee27-468a-4a62-ba0d-74606d1b6a6c (Maximum Performance)". In this case, restart your computer and return to the power plan menu mentioned above. The Maximum Performance option will be unlocked.
Use the disk defragmenter
In the Start Menu, look for the tool "Defrag and optimize". After accessing it, select the "Optimize" option and wait for the process to complete. If you've never done this before, it may take a while, so proceed to the other steps while it completes.
Update Windows and Video Card Drivers
This step can be boring and time consuming, but it will undoubtedly help you improve the game's performance. Keep your operating system and video drivers always up to date to gain some extra frames in your Minecraft. The pages below will tell you whether or not you need an update:
- Update your Windows from the Microsoft page
- Update your Radeon on the AMD page
- Update your GeForce on the Nvidia page
Lower the quality of in-game graphics
Finally, the most obvious tip. Run the game and access the menu graphics settings. Then decrease all values ââor turn off all enabled options. This will greatly increase the FPS rate in exchange, of course, for the quality of graphics. Also don't forget to play at your monitor's resolution and always in full screen. If you don't like the result in the graphics, adjust the values ââuntil you find a balance between performance and visuals.
