Changing the language in LoL was simple before Riot updated the in-game Client. Just change it on the login screen. Today you need to change the settings inside the Client file. In this article, we'll explain how you can change the LoL language to Japanese, English, Korean and other languages ââavailable in the game's database:
1 - First, log out of LoL and close the Launcher. The process will not work if you are logged in:
2 - Now access the League of Legends folder on your computer. By default, the directory should be "Unit C>Riot Games>League of Legends". Then locate the file LeagueClient, right-click and choose Properties:
3 - After creating the shortcut, drag it to your Desktop, right-click on it and select "Properties". In the next window, the "Destination" field will be filled as follows:
4 - To change the language of LoL, just fill in the field shown above with the code of the language you want. For that, just give a space and type --locale=(one of the codes below):
- Coreano: ko_KR
- American English: en_US
- Australian English: en_AU
- British English: en_GB
- Japanese: ja_JP
- our language: pt_BR
- German: de_DE
- Spanish Spanish: es_ES
- Mexican Spanish: es_MX
- French: fr_FR
- Greek: el_GR
- HĂșngaro: hu_HU
- Italiano: it_IT
- Polish: pl_PL
- Romeno: ro_RO
- Russo: ru_RU
- Turco: tr_CHILD
- Tcheco: cs_CZ
5 - After the change, using the Korean language as an example, the "Destination" field should look like this:
6 - Select "OK" to close the window and when you launch the Game Client you will notice that the chosen language is already applied. This also includes the menus and character voices:



ATTENTION: whenever you want to change the language again, delete the shortcut created last time and repeat the whole process, that is, create a new shortcut and modify the "Target' field in it. If you try to modify the field in the same shortcut, the process will not work and the language will remain the same.
How to Change LoL Language on Mac
To change the language of League of Legends on Mac, just follow a version similar to method 2 shown just above. That is, you will:
- Open the Applications folder
- Right click on LoL app and open "Show Package Contents"
- Find the LeagueClientSetting.yaml file
- Right click on it and open it with Text Editor
- Find the "Globals" line and edit the locale in "Locale", which is just below
- Confirm the change and launch the game normally
