If you want to know how to be a police officer in GTA 5, you've come to the right article! Enough of the thug life: the focus now is to protect the innocent and always walk by the side of the law. See below how to do this on both Xbox One and PS4 consoles and PC. You don't need to download anything or use a mod: it's something that's been in the game forever.
Step 1: Finish the solo campaign and leave Michael alive
First of all you need to have finished the entire single player campaign. Michael needs to be playable, so no killing him in the last mission.
Step 2: Get an outfit and a police car
When you finish the game and leave Michael alive, you will get a new outfit. For that, go with him to his mansion. There, go up to your room and go to the closet to change your clothes. Go to the Uniforms section and select the Ranger option.
The car will require patience on your part. It's important that you don't get caught stealing a police vehicle, otherwise you'll have to run away and elude the real cops before you can move on to the next step.
Once you get a car, head back to Michael's house. Park it in your garage and go to sleep. The next day the car will be part of his collection.
Step 3: Fight city crime
There is no job as a police officer for Michael, but there are certainly some really fun things you can do as a police officer. We will list below everything that a uniform and a car with a siren allow you to accomplish:
- Turn on the siren and watch the traffic open up for you
- Use the car radio to find out where crimes are taking place. You can go there and help.
- Real cops won't be suspicious of you if you hit or shoot a criminal
- Can taser a criminal, join a police chase, or call for backup by calling 911 and the police

Basically you will use Rockstar Editor. Pause the game and select the editor, going directly to Director mode. In the upper left menu there is a casting section. Select Actors, then Emergency Services, then LSPD.
You will notice that Michael's clothes change as you select outfits. Once you confirm that you want the LSPD outfit, you'll be back in the game and that's it!
