Connect headphones to PS4 controller
Plug any headphones with a 3,5mm jack into the slot on the bottom of the DualShock 4 controller, located between the bottom of the analog sticks.
Hold the PlayStation button
This is the button located between the analog sticks on the bottom half of the DualShock 4 controller. Hold it down until the Quick Menu appears on the left of the screen.
Select Adjust Devices
At the top of the menu, select the 'Sound/Devices' icon using the X button on the DualShock 4 controller. You will be taken to a second part of the Quick Menu screen.
Enable all audio outputs
Scroll down to option âHeadphones Outâ using the directional pad and press the X button. Select the option âAll Audioâ in the submenu and press the X button again. You can change the volume by pressing the left and right directional pad on the button âVolume control (headphones)â located just above the option âHeadphones Outâ. If you prefer to just listen to the voice chat audio in the headphones, select it in the option 'Output for headphones' again.
The console must remember the default settings; so whenever you connect a headphone to your DualShock 4 it will work automatically.
